Bonjour! I am Margaux Samson-Abadie, a freelance illustrator & surface pattern designer from France.

I grew up in a small coastal town in the west of France and spent my childhood playing pretend with my sister, drawing anthropomorphic animals and reading past my bedtime. I have always had a curious nature, I loved learning new things about the world as a child and still do today.
After graduating from fashion school, I worked in the Netherlands for five years as a designer for a Dutch children wear company before going freelance as a commercial artist in 2019.
Because of my inquisitive nature, I love illustrating non-fiction books, diving deep, learning & researching themes like biodiversity, environmental conservation, gardening, natural history, folklore, foreign cultures and civilisations. I am also very fond of designing book covers, the more ornamental the better!
In the past three years, I have illustrated Nature’s Storybook series published by Quarto’s Wide Eyed Editions and have worked as a commercial artist with various international clients such as EeBoo Piece & Love, Resurgence & Ecologist, UQ Press and Firefly Education.
I would love to hear from you if you are interested in working together — or if you simply want to chat about art or cats...
